Magazine Review: Cosmo August 2010 - Britney Spears

I want to start by saying that Britney looks awful on this cover. Why on earth didn't they photoshop her more or do her makeup differently? Poor thing.
Anyway, I did enjoy this issue. Light (of course), fun articles, quizzes, etc. Also found out that there are 2 Jackie O & 1 Marilyn Monroe movie coming out. For the Jackie O movies, one will ve on the History Channel & Jackie will be played by Katie Holmes & one on the big screen w/Jackie played by Rachel Weisz. The Marilyn Monroe movie is titled Blonde, w/Marilyn played by Naomi Watts.
On to the rest of the issue...
For Articles, Would You Have a Baster Baby?, Sex Survey (notes are made when married guy's answers differed from the answers of singles guys. Kinda interesting. For example, after sex 71% of single guys want to cuddle & 21% want to watch tv. But for married guys, 32% would prefer to watch tv. lol). In other sex related topics, Period Sex & John Mayer's G-Spot Geometry (lol, I know. WTH?) & Sex Tape Tips (how to adjust lighting, postions, etc to obscure your identity). In a more relationship-y vein, The 5 Smartest Tips We've Heard This Year; things like talking to your SO about what you might want to change in your relationship, cheatproof by confiding mostly in each other, try dirty flirting (aimed at people in long-term relationships).
For Beauty articles, Beauty Cheat Sheet: Keep a Zit Covered for Hours (actually looks like newer, decent advice) & a photo spread on different nail trends (lace-covered, etc).
The main standout for Fashion was a Wear Now, Wear Later photo shoot (w/anouraks, sequin leggins, leather mini) & a photo shoot w/Jersey Shore's The Situation & Pauly D in the background acting like their womanizer selves. lol

Overall, I liked this issue. Good for a poolside read

Magazine Review: Cosmo July 2010 - Shakira

I had really been hoping for more summer beauty articles, etc, but every magazine has been letting me down. Maybe Allure will save the day....
Not too much to mention about any section. For Articles, there is How to Break a Toxic Love Pattern, Why More Girls are Kissing Girls & Fascinating Info ABout You (random tidbits of info. Interesting but for me, not really accurate).
Beauty, an article about how to deal with summer hair problems (frizz, limpness), What Guys Really Love About Your Looks (hair up vs down, lip color) & The Sexiest Way to Glow (self-tanners).
Very little for Fashion, just how to wear sundresses for work & play.
I'd skip this issue unless you really need the sex tips. lol

Magazine Review: Cosmo May 2010 - Heidi Klum

Not quite sure why Heidi Klum is on so many magazine covers recently. Doesn't seem like she's promoting anything in particular.
Not much by way of fashion in this issue. They do have a swimsuit section with suits by price range (even under $25 options).
For beauty, their Beauty Cheat Sheet is on Giving Roots a Mega Boost (blow-drying techniques), hairstyles that draw attention to your best features (eyes, cleavage, etc), The Power of Red Lips, which has a few options in each tone category (like orange-red, pink-red, etc). One odd article seemed to be anti-freckle. As someone with lots of freckles I thought they were accepted now but apparently there are lots of people looking for ways to cover them up.
And in typical Cosmo fashion, they have bikini line stencils. lol
Overall, nothing really stood out about the issue. Unless one of the things I mentioned above really interests you, I'd skip it.

NOTE: On Sunday the 18th, Hilary Duff will be starring in a ABC Family Original Movie called Beauty & the Briefcase, which I believe is inspired by or based on. working in the Cosmo offices.

Magazine Review: Cosmo April 2010 - Lady Gaga

When I saw this issue in store, my first thought was "How appropriate. Lady Gaga is perfect for Cosmo."
Now overall, I only read Cosmo for the beauty/fashion sections. They have some wearable & affordable fashions and more beauty articles than many other comparable women's magazines.
In this issue, nothing in fashion really stood out to me but there are several interesting beauty tips/ideas. The first was How to Create Captivating Cleavage, which tells you where to apply bronzer & highlighter to make your breasts appear fuller. There was also an article about using colored eyeliner and they had a few fresh new looks to try. The last was a hair article about how to recreate 11 popular celeb looks. I haven't tried any of the looks yet but the instructions appeared fairly simple.
As far as the rest of the issue, same old sex, guys, blah, blah, etc topics. Two standouts: One was weight-free arm-sculpting and the other were 3 pasta recipes from Giada.
