Magazine Review: InStyle August 2010 - Courteney Cox

This issue felt a little lacking. I didn't really make many notes about it. Just mainly who was featured in in the monthly columns, etc. Nothing worth noting for beauty.
~Secrets of Style w/Jason Wu
~Her 10 Best Ever! Marion Cotillard
~Signature Style: Julianne Moore
~Fall Shoes (pointy heels, biker boots, bright suedes, fring & tassels, black & strappy, nude hues)
~10 New Style Statements (cluthces for day, socks w/skirts, mismatched prints, denim on denim, etc)

Overall, eh for InStyle but still better than some of the other magazines out this month.

Magazine Review: InStyle July 2010 - Cameron Diaz

Not as good as I have come to expect from InStyle but I guess its still worth getting. The highlights:
Fashion - Her 10 Best Ever! Megan Fox, Man of Style Stephen Moyer, cute random pieces & looks
Beauty - Heat & Humidity-proof makeup, Hot & Not Bothered(summer beauty issues like sand sticking to sunscreened skin, blotchy self-tanner, etc)
Other - 101 Reasons to Smile This Summer (wedges, teal eyeshadow/liner, the World Cup, 3 cocktail recipes, Angelina Jolie in Salt, bright lipgloss, etc) & Summer Party ice cream (twists on homemade ice cream sandwiches, gourmet sundaes).

Magazine Review: InStyle June 2010 - Salma Hayek

Not sure if other places had a delay getting magazines this month but for some reason I couldn't find InStyle, Elle or Women's Health until a day or 2 ago. Normally People StyleWatch & Allure are the only ones that come out this late. Hopefully this isn't going to be the new release schedule.
I'm sure most of you know how much I love InStyle. Well this issue didn't disappoint. Here are the standouts:
Fashion: Her 10 Best Ever! was on Jessica Alba, there were a few pages of Roberto Cavalli's most famous/best celeb looks, Denim A to Z (quite comprehensive, also a page of celebs wearing denim-on-denim).
Beauty: 10 Ways to Look Great in a Bikini (some new tips like most flattering way to sit, taping breasts, etc), Easy Summer Hair (3 styles including a loose fishtail braid). But my fave article was The Naked Truth, which talked about how much makeup stars are actually wearing when they do a nude/natural look.
Articles: There was a "sexy" theme, including The Sexy Dozen ( Ashley Greene, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten, etc) and Sexy New You!, which includes new updates for classic sexy things (First thought: cleavage. Think again: back), sexy standbys (red wine, blindfolds)sexy signatures (Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark), sexy makeup (black liner, flushed cheeks), top chefs name sensual ingredients, etc

Magazine Review: InStyle May 2010 - Scarlett Johansson

The standout of this issue were the Best Beauty Buys. Overall, their picks seemed like popular products and products that have pretty good overall ratings on review forums. There wasn't really anything new & exciting but I don't think that was the goal of the article anyway. They did have Great Lash listed but they also had Voluminous & DiorShow on there too. Pantene was one fo the hair products recommended but it was the Nature Fusion line which is one of the better ones (without the buildup that I get from other Pantene products). I'm pretty much a drugstore-only kind of girl & I wrote down several things to check out.
The rest of the issue wasn't too exciting. Her 10 Best Ever! was on Gwyneth Paltrow, they did a rundown on the popular Oscar looks, there were a few pages of Cat Deeley & her fave outfits (*love* her). One big downside was Scar Jo on the cover. I can't *stand* her & I'm pissed that she's in Iron Man2 & isn't even a character that would be killed off. lol
Get this issue for the beauty buys list!!

Magazine Review: InStyle April 2010 - Gwen Stefani

This is hands-down my favorite magazine. I get it the second I see it on newstands but often save it to read last. I might not mark tons of pages, but like Women's Health, there are a lot of small tidbits that make it great, like the mention of the new Revlon collection, of which I already bought the Coral Reef gloss & can't wait till May to buy the peach (the lilac is out now & popular but wouldn't work on me). They also had some pics of the Rachel Roy/Estelle jewelry collaboration for Macys. A lot of horn pieces, which are suppose to be very hot this season. Plus I always like reading the Where Can I Find?, The Look & Instant Style sections.
As far as other fashion sections, the Her 10 Best Ever! section was on Eve Mendes (love her), Derek Lam gives you 10 ways to update your look for spring, Rachel Zoe shares her favorite jewelry pieces & pieces from her new QVC line. There is also an article, 15 Reason to Get Excited About Jewelry, that mentions trends & shows some nice & some affordable pieces.
Since this is the Color Issue, they have an article about clothing color combos to try, makeup recs to do the bright eye-pink lip/cheek look, ways to add color to your home, etc.
Towards the back of the issue they had a spring cleaning challenge which had some good tips as well.

Total pages: 318
Pages Dog-earred: 8
